The Girl is "TWO"

I still can't believe the munchkin is two! Time flies when you are having fun!

Well, the writing is on the wall...Neema's birthday was a sweet one!
Our hosts, LITTLE TREASURES, a Nasirembi establishment created a safe and fun place for Neema and the children that joined in on the fun.

All dressed up in her cute dress (thank you, Lawino), Neema was a true "princess".

Oblivious that the party was all about her, she just went with the flow. One minute she was in her pretty dress...contemplating whether she should...or shouldn't...

...and the next, she was in her bathing suit!
Although she was not in the water for long, she did enjoy the little time she was in the kiddie-pool.

Her guests had fun too!

Fortunately, it was a perfect sunny day...the cool kiddie-pool was very appealing!
Our guests, Rory...Brendan...Kale...Tatyanna...Yuri...Leila...Daniel...Akiko...Joe...thank you for the giggles, splashes, running, munching, swimming and all around birthday fun!

Even as we sang around the cake...then cut the cake...then ate the cake...the fun did not let up!

Considering it was Andy's and my first kiddie-party...we did good...
Thank you all, our hosts, our guests and the birthday girl!

Blankets & Wine March 2011

One of the most unique events in Nairobi, Blankets and Wine "is the premier Afro-based music festival in East Africa designed to showcase Afro fusion music." March was featuring Mutinda, J-Dee and Atemi. The venue was fantastic...an earthy Amphitheatre with a few tents (small and large) to protect the audience from the blazing sun.

Each time I go to these events, it gets better and better. This month, a whole bunch of us planned to go...it was a fabulous idea! Lots of food, drink and family....The music was good too!! lol!
Pearl (my brother's girlfriend), William and Cynthia (cousins)

Neema and Andy (on the right) found a friends, Iddi and his daughter, Wema

Neema had in regression! Took over another baby's carrier

Neema "bullying" her uncle William...Peral and Cynthia looking on.

Neema not wanting to let go of her new friend, Wema. Iddi holding onto both girls.

Callum and Neema dancing to the music blaring from beyond

Pearl holding on to Neema...she is sitting pretty!

And in the shadows...Makera, Amer and Andrew

Another cousin, Cynthia...Callum's mom!

Makera putting his son, Brandon, to sleep

Callum is have a blast...woo hoo!

Amer...a load of laughs!

One of my favorite couples....my brother Victor and his girlfriend, Pearl.

Its days like these that I'm reminded that I made the right choice to come "home".
I honestly cannot wait for the next one!!

Moved in...and nearly settled!

Twenty five days and counting...

It almost feels like a dream!

Being in our new home... a newly built apartment in the Lavington area of Nairobi, I can't help but want to pinch myself!!

Now of course they tell you that you gotta keep your eyes peeled on what is not working...the errors...and have the contractor address it immediately. I get that. But for now, in this moment, I don't wanna stress about those details. Instead, be present in the joy I feel in being here, now.

Initially, I could not tell what was going on in Neema's mind when we first moved. Did she think we were on some trip and would soon move back to the place she has known as her home. Who knows! What I do know is that she is loving the bigger space. Heck, she is already entertaining!!

In our first month in this new space, I am happy. There is still a box or two still begging to be unpacked. We will get to them in time, as I will get to that list of repairs for the contractor. Andy is happy with his little office space we have created for him (pictures to follow soon). I am thrilled with my kitchen...yeah for counter space!! And Neema loves being on the balcony.

So, for now, in our new space we are grateful!

Another year has passed.
Not forgetting what is so, I choose to focus on what could be. The possibilities are numerous!

Andy is on an exciting venture with PECOL, a green company aiming to turn waste materials into diesel. If all goes as planned, their factory will be up and running by June this year.

I too have a journey to embark on.
Like a lioness hunting for the right prey for her pride, I will be hunting for my "next step", whatever it may be I will approach each option with an open mind, carefully taking the time to evaluate what best works for me and thus my family.

The munchkin has a lot on her plate...forming words, potty training, play time with self and with others...so much to do and so little time to do it...but we got her back! With our immense love and adoration, we will walk her through them all and whatever else is thrown at her. She is so smart...I'm not worried!!

Things are looking up, folks!
This year, we move to a new home, "our" home. Step one of many towards a bright and rewarding future.

Thank you for your love, blessings, prayers and support!
