KISMET

Surprisingly, Andrew and I went to the same primary (middle) school but never met. It seems that we had friends in the same circles but we never ran into each other. Our families have crossed paths and still there were no introductions.

Like all things, we were to meet at a destined time. Both Andrew and I believe that there are no accidents. Sometimes, we are exactly where we should be. Our experiences bind to help us in our life’s journey. Our openness made our journey to each other easier.

My need to reconnect to family and new and old friends, led me to FACEBOOK. Andrew signed up to FACEBOOK for similar reasons in addition to networking. Interestingly enough, we both signed up within a month of each other late last year. It was here that we finally connected. An exchange of messages got the ball rolling.

Within days of our internet introduction, we found ourselves in the same corner at the "New Jack" monthly event at the Carnivore in December 2007. Like a common theme, if it were not for Andrew's friend, Lorraine, dragging him out to Carnivore and steering him to that very corner, the opportunity may have been missed. In addition, it was an old friend, Timothy Kaburu, who highlighted our presence to each other. Considering how many people were there at the time, kismet got us to finally meet.

One chance encounter led to several sms-messages and soon face-to-face dates. Our friendship slowly blossomed even with the Post-election chaos all around us. Finding that we had so much in common, it was easy to find the time to sit and talk. Amazingly, we had a lot to share.

It was a time of great discovery for the both of us: we could see kindness in each other’s actions. Andrew loves my laugh and my eyes. I love his cute butt! He loves that I am a generous tipper and cannot help but give my change to those in need. I love that he can go on and on about bio-fuel options.

A match made in heaven!
