So long, Dear Friend

On our wedding day, Andrew Masinde stood by my husband as his best man. Sadly, after a life changing accident that would leave him paralyzed, he passed away due to medical complications at the Nairobi Hospital on February 17th.

Andrew was Andy's best friend. They befriended in Lavington primary school and remained friends through High school at St. Mary's. Even as their careers pulled them in opposite directions, they stayed in touch. My heart breaks knowing Andy will miss his buddy. However, I am so grateful to learn that the last three weeks in the hospital, these two friends spent endless hours talking, reconnecting on their special level.

Andrew was the beloved son of Hon. Philip J.W and Theresa Masinde. The late Andrew Masinde and Wambui Gichuru were the loving parents of Sean Kimuchu.

He was a dear brother of Gaudencia Ochwada, Fidelis & Vincent Rague, Florence Masinde, Maggie & David Githuku, George & Soila Masinde, Jayne & Stan Wijenje, Gladys & Paul Ouma and Stella Masinde. Adored uncle of Clement, Sara, Nick, Mark, Tiberius, Tracy, the Matayos, Adrian, Maria, Natalya, Cecily, Ian, Michael, Nashipae, Naisola and Timaye.

May his spirit reign within the hearts of those that loved him.

~ with light, love and joy,
Tindi & Andy Amadi

Hi Tindi, thanks for sharing this blog. I remember Andrew from primary school his public speaking skills especially in debates. May God give his family and friends peace at this very challenging time.

As we reflect on life, we should thank God for every moment we are blessed to be with our loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Can not see for the tears of tremendous sadness I feel for both of you who have lost a dear friend and Andrew's BEST BUDDY. I remember him well from the wedding celebrations...Their time in the hospital was truly a time-gift from God before Andrew started his Eternal Journey.

Hi Tindi & Andy!
Thanks for the blog and for sharing the sad news of Andrew Masinde's passing - how sudden & sad it was to hear this! I knew him from Lavo and from numerous afternoons spent at their home as his sister Stella and I were classmates. That boy was such a trip and so very funny; what a character and beautiful personality to boot. He was such a joy to his family may God be with them in this trying time.

Andrew will be fondly remembered, we were blessed to have known him while he was here. They say God picks His flowers, so thankful we got to know and enjoy this one short though the time was. Rest well Andrew.
